🔓 Unlocking the Value Behind the Logo

With a legacy of leading 140+ successful projects across sectors—including Fortune 100s, Big Four consultancies, and government-backed startup ecosystems—one insight remains deeply rooted in my professional philosophy:

"The real work begins when the plan ends."

In today’s evolving landscape, project delivery goes far beyond milestones, timelines, and scope documents. It demands a synthesis of purpose, adaptability, team insight, and above all—value.

WorKnoW was not created to be another project newsletter. It is a platform born from the lived experiences, unanswered questions, and transformational journeys of delivery professionals who often ask:

  • Are we solving the right problems?
  • Are we delivering measurable value?
  • How do we manage ambiguity and fluid expectations?
  • Is our response knowledge-based or reactive?
  • Can wisdom be structured into learning?

Let’s explore the six guiding principles at the heart of the WorKnoW platform.

✳️ 1. Know Your Work

In one pivotal engagement, we delivered a feature-rich release under budget—only to find we had misunderstood the core need. This error in understanding, not execution, was a turning point.

Knowing your work means:

  • Interpreting stakeholder intent beyond documents
  • Mapping interdependencies and hidden constraints
  • Understanding the ‘why’ before the ‘how’
  • Contextualizing business outcomes within social, ethical, and operational realities

🔍 Key Reflection: “Effectiveness before efficiency. Pause and ask: What problem are we truly solving?”

🎯 2. Focus on Value

A 2022 healthcare transformation project revealed this hard truth:

“We deliver features, but patients still call confused.”

Shipping software is not success. Value lies in improving lives, enabling clarity, and solving real pain points.

A value-focused delivery approach ensures:

  • Alignment with core user needs
  • Measurable business and operational uplift
  • Experience-centered design, not process-first execution

Guiding Thought: “Working software isn’t enough. Working valuable software changes the game.”

🔄 3. Be Change Appreciative

Change is inevitable—be it due to regulation, market pivots, or fresh insights. Leaders must evolve from being resistant to appreciative of change.

Each scope change is:

  • A signal of deeper truth
  • An opportunity to revisit priorities
  • A chance to deliver something better

💬 Mindset Shift: “Every change request is not a disruption, but a dialogue with reality.”

🧭 4. Do the Right Thing

In 2019, I advocated for the cancellation of a lucrative vendor agreement. Despite high costs and sunk effort, the contract did not align with end-user data security standards.

Doing the right thing means:

  • Making decisions based on values, not vanity metrics
  • Prioritizing trust and compliance over short-term delivery
  • Being honest about constraints and willing to walk away

⚖️ Wisdom Insight: “Shortcuts cut short your credibility. Integrity builds reputational capital.”

📘 5. Knowledge

Certifications (PMP®, PRINCE2®, ITIL®) build the scaffolding. But the structure is upheld by how you:

  • Translate theory into relevant team behaviors
  • Navigate power dynamics within and outside the team
  • Balance discipline with creativity

🎓 Learning Note: “Frameworks inform you. Experience transforms you.”

🧠 6. Wisdom

Wisdom is applied knowledge. It’s in your timing, tone, and the trust you build. It’s the quiet decision not to escalate. The pause before a reply. The space you give others to shine.

Wisdom is:

  • Listening more than reacting
  • Mentoring even when unasked
  • Seeing beyond what’s said

🪙 Truth: “Knowledge earns a seat at the table. Wisdom earns a voice in the room.”
